Welcome to the Wireless RERC

RERC Mission

"To research, evaluate and develop innovative wireless technologies and products that meet the needs and improve the quality of life and community participation of individuals with disabilities."

Funded since 2001, the Wireless RERC (Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center) has become a recognized leader on issues and solutions related to the accessibility and usability of mobile wireless products and services by people with disabilities.

The strategies employed to facilitate use of wireless technologies by people with disabilities are:

  1. create access to wireless technologies by people with disabilities, and
  2. work with relevant stakeholders to remove barriers and champion adoption of accessible solutions, including universal design, in future generations of wireless technologies.
