Three national pharmacy chains in the United States now offer talking prescription information for blind customers. This post has information about the Walmart, Walgreens and CVS accessible prescription initiatives. Maybe it’s WellPoint, a company that has made a major commitment to the accessibility and usability of its digital and print information for its blind members across the country. Find out if your Blue Cross, Blue Shield or Anthem company is affiliated with WellPoint.

Mobile accessibility is about making sure that applications, information and services on mobile devices are available to all users. Weight Watchers, Bank of America, Major League Baseball and WellPoint have all engaged in Structured Negotiations with the blind community to improve the accessibility of their mobile offerings. These companies deserve to be recognized.

Congratulations Walgreens! Today the national pharmacy retailer announced that it is providing talking prescription labels free of charge to customers with visual impairments in over 8,000 stores and through mail order. It is the first pharmacy chain in the United States to offer talking prescription information in every retail location.

Surprise Surprise. The United States Department of Justice has announced another delay in its long awaited web accessibility regulations. Does it matter? Even though it can’t seem to issue web accessibility regulations, the United States Department of Justice has recently been a forceful advocate for web accessibility. The Department has been crystal clear that the ADA requires websites to be accessible.
