In early 2009 the membership of the POSC Caesar Association (PCA) and FIATECH organizations formed an implementation project called Camelot whose mission was to provide an implementation of ISO 15926, Part 7 and include support for a prototype Part 8 & 9.

The Camelot project demonstrated and delivered a set of free, public domain, open source software tools, now called iRINGTools, that were intended to be used in production settings and also provide software vendors with a usage pattern of ISO 15926.

With the success of the Camelot project and availability of an open source solution, the next step was to establish a user group to guide the development of iRING protocols and the iRINGTools software. That user group is the iRINGTools User Group.

Charter

The iRING user group charter defines the iRING online community user group. The charter will introduce the user group, now renamed to the "iRINGTools User Group" (iUG) and declare its mission, objectives, scope, organization, and governance. View the iRINGTools User Group Charter

Vision

Establish delivery and usage of fully operational software products and reference data content and services that provide seamless interoperability via the ISO 15926, Part 7, 8, & 9 standards.

Mission

The iRINGTools User Group will establish an online community of users, companies, and organizations that have common interest in solutions that implement ISO 15926 reference data and protocols to address their information interoperability and integration challenges. With the existence of the iRINGTools User Group, participants can seek and provide, guidance and support, from and to the iRINGTools User Group online community.

Scope

Facilitate the iRING userБЂ™s communication and collaboration, drive the extension of ISO 15926 reference data and information modeling, drive the direction of iRINGTools via the iRINGTools Software Control Board, manage the iRINGSandbox services, establish and maintain a live iRING reference system, establish iRING certification tools, and provide requirements to the developers of the ISO 15926 standard. The iRINGTools User Group is the organization for iRING.

Participation

Participation in the iRINGTools User Group is open to any user, company, or organization with an interest in learning, using, or improving ISO 15926. There are no requirements for explicit membership to the iRINGTools User Group. Participation in the iRINGTools User Group requires no fees or dues and is considered free. The iRINGTools User Group will maintain an active list of iRING users and volunteers to facilitate the online collaboration of iRING users.
