Introduction

In early 2009 the membership of the POSC Caesar Association (PCA) and FIATECH organizations formed an implementation project called Camelot whose mission was to provide an implementation of ISO 15926, Part 7 and include support for a prototype Part 8 & 9.

The Camelot project demonstrated and delivered a set of free, public domain, open source software tools, now called iRINGTools, that were intended to be used in production settings and also provide software vendors with a usage pattern of ISO 15926.

With the success of the Camelot project and availability of an open source solution, the next step was to establish a user group to guide the development of iRING protocols and the iRINGTools software. That user group is the iRINGTools User Group.

ISO 15926 Reference Data
The reference data in ISO 15926 is the most important part of the standard. It establishes the БЂњstandardizationБЂ« in ISO 15926. All aspects of iRING are dependent on ISO 15926 reference data. For recommended reference data usage patterns go to ISO 15926 Template Information Patterns (TIPs). For more details on how to use ISO 15926 reference data please go to Beginners Guide to ISO 15926 Modeling

ISO 15926 Information Patterns (IIP) Project
The ISO 15926 Information Patterns (IIP) Project has been formed to develop consensus based Template Information Patterns (TIPs) and to create iRINGTools Data Layer software for key industry software tools. The IIP project will also engage in various standards harmonization initiatives such as the EPRI Plant Information Model (PIM) Project.

iRINGTools is a set of free, public domain, and open source (BSD 3 license) software applications and utilities that implement iRING protocols. iRINGTools provide users with production ready deployable solutions. iRINGTools also provides technology solution providers with usage patterns for the implementation of iRING protocols in their respective solutions.

IRINGSandbox_logo_small.png
iRINGSandbox is an internet hosted, publicly accessible and publicly downloadable, iRING reference system that will showcase the use of iRINGTools and other technology solution providerБЂ™s products that implement iRING protocols. This reference system will also include an example iRING community sandbox which will hold sample ISO 15926 RDL extensions.
