The Open IMS Core is an Open Source implementation of IMS Call Session Control Functions (CSCFs) and a lightweight Home Subscriber Server (HSS), which together form the core elements of all IMS/NGN architectures as specified today within 3GPP, 3GPP2, ETSI TISPAN and the PacketCable intiative. The four components are all based upon Open Source software(e.g. the SIP Express Router (SER) or MySQL). For almost three years the Open IMS Core has formed the heart of the Open IMS Playground @ FOKUS

As many of you might have noticed, BerliOs.de is kind of closing up. This means that we have to get out of there and find a new home for our project on sourceforge. We're now scrambling to make all things work just like before, with the new hosting and all. We're not sure if we'll be able to recover everything, but we will try. Help is always appreciated! A new branch of the Open IMS Core for Emergency Services support development has been published. So far it contains two new entities: the Emergency-CSCF (E-CSCF) and the Location Retrieval Function (LRF). These two components are instances of SIP Express Router, just like the other CSCFs in the Open IMS Core. The implementation is based on TS 23.167, TS 24.229 and TS 29.228.
