Welcome to Open IMS Core's Homepage

The Open IMS Core is an Open Source implementation of IMS Call Session Control Functions (CSCFs) and a lightweight Home Subscriber Server (HSS), which together form the core elements of all IMS/NGN architectures as specified today within 3GPP, 3GPP2, ETSI TISPAN and the PacketCable intiative. The four components are all based upon Open Source software(e.g. the SIP Express Router (SER) or MySQL). For almost three years the Open IMS Core has formed the heart of the Open IMS Playground @ FOKUS

In addition to a short overview of the Open IMS Core Components you can find on these websites also some more information on the background of the project.

We're migrating the site to sourceforge! RIP BerliOS.de...

As many of you might have noticed, BerliOs.de is kind of closing up. This means that we have to get out of there and find a new home for our project on sourceforge. We're now scrambling to make all things work just like before, with the new hosting and all. We're not sure if we'll be able to recover everything, but we will try. Help is always appreciated! And don't forget to send me your sourceforge.net account, as to add you to the new project's admins!

2nd Open NGN and IMS Testbeds (ONIT) Workshop @ TRIDENTCOM 2010

The organizers of the 2nd ONIT Workshop are inviting all the NGN/IMS interested parties to submit their work. Following the success of the 1st ONIT Workshop, this years event will be held in conjunction with TRIDENTCOM 2010 on the 18th of May 2010 in Berlin.

The Areas of Interest include but are not limited to:

SUN releases case study on the Open IMS Core

As part of a series of case studies for "MysQL in telecommunications" SUN also describes the use of MySQL in the Open IMS Core project. Have a look at the case study right here or get it directly from the MySQL pages.

Emergency Services Branch Added to the Project

A new branch of the Open IMS Core for Emergency Services support development has been published. So far it contains two new entities: the Emergency-CSCF (E-CSCF) and the Location Retrieval Function (LRF). These two components are instances of SIP Express Router, just like the other CSCFs in the Open IMS Core. The implementation is based on TS 23.167, TS 24.229 and TS 29.228.

An Open Source IP Multimedia Subsystem for all

This page reflects what others have to state about the Open IMS Core. Feel free to write us what you are using the software for and why you think it is a good idea or even where you still think it has problems.

See some of the quotes that we received so far from users of the Open IMS Core:

Mandatory disclaimer, before any usage

It has to be noted that this Open Source IMS Core System is not intended to become or act as a product in a commercial context! Its sole purpose is to provide an IMS core reference implementation for IMS technology testing and IMS application prototyping for research purposes, typically performed in IMS test-beds.
Users of the Open Source IMS Core System have to be aware that IMS technology may be subject of patents and license terms, as being specified within the various IMS-related IETF, ITU-T, ETSI, and 3GPP standards. Thus all Open IMS Core users have to take notice of this fact and have to agree to check out carefully before installing, using and extending the Open Source IMS Core System, if related patents and licenses may become applicable to the intended usage context.
