Marc Riboud: "Premiers déclics" exhibit at the Plateau

Marc Riboud - Premiers déclics (Bientôt à l... par Rhone-Alpes

The Plateau exhibition space will feature Marc Riboud with an exhibition entitled "Premiers déclics" from 3 October 2014 to 21 February 2015. It shows the young Riboud's first steps in photography and how quickly he learned his art.

He probably owes his career in photography to a gift from his father: Marc Riboud was a young teen when he received the old Vest Pocket Kodak and started to take photos of the Loire River châteaux and the World Expo...
Later, he decided to give up his job in a factory to concentrate exclusively on photography. His meeting with Cartier-Bresson and Capo would influence his early assignments. In post-war Paris, the United States, Yugoslavia, China and India, Marc Riboud captured with world with curiosity, humour and rigour.
His earliest photos from the 1950s, which include photos of Lyon and the Alps, are exhibited for the first time in Lyon. Born in Saint-Genis-Laval in 1923, the photographer has been the focus of major retrospective exhibitions in Paris, but never in his home region.

Welcome to Lyon St. Exupéry, a new tourist Welcome Area

A new tourist Welcome Area recently opened in Lyon St. Exupéry airport.

The purpose of this information hub is threefold: improve the quality of welcome and information services for tourists visiting the Rhône-Alpes Region, provide transport options for travel throughout the entire region, and promote all that the Region has to offer. Modelled after this vast and modern region, the new international area will offer a range of services: tourist information, a lounge area, self-service access to information via touch-screen tablets, and a display wall showing the Region's promotional videos.

Ideally located in the centre of the airport, the Welcome Area is a gateway for the more than 2,500,000 yearly passengers who will find a comprehensive and varied transport offer. Indeed, since 1993, the Rhône-Alpes Region has been investing in regional routes: the airport shuttle and a number of destinations that are directly accessible from St. Exupéry: Grenoble, Voiron, Annecy, Bourg en Bresse, and more than 30 ski resorts in the winter.

The Welcome Area's ticket office will provide information and tickets for public transport, thus offering airport clientele a service that is adapted to their needs and available as soon as they arrive.

Grotte Pont d’Arc joins the World Heritage

UNESCO has inscribed the decorated Cave of Pont d’Arc, known as Grotte Chauvet-Pont d’Arc, on the World Heritage List. It is the culmination of a tireless campaign by the Rhône-Alpes Region and its partners to protect and promote this priceless site.
